Summer

Well, with snow falls and chill winds still littering my little corner of the UK I was thrilled to have been given another blogger to blogger award – The Sunshine Award – by the lovely Erica. It really is uplifting to know that someone out there reads and enjoys your blog so much that they think you deserve a bit of recognition (and I promise that no bribery was involved).

Of course, as with every award it is now my duty to pass it on along with a set of rules which are:

  • Include the award’s logo in a post or on your blog.
  • Answer 10 questions about yourself.
  • Nominate up to 10 other fabulous bloggers.
  • Link your nominees to this post and comment on their blogs, letting  them know they  have been nominated.
  • Share the love and link the person who nominated you.

So, here goes:

What inspired you to start blogging?

I guess I had to justify why I spend so much time talking to myself! Now I can pretend I am talking to other people. And with the move to Fethiye happening in just 2 weeks time I thought I might actually be able to talk about something that one or two other people might find interesting. Of course, it is also a good way for your friends to keep up with what you are doing.

How did you come up with the name for your blog?

This was my 2nd attempt at a name. The first was ‘Sian goes to Turkey’ but seeing as the blog has evolved from it’s humble beginnings of just talking about my move to Fethiye I thought a name change was in order and ‘To Fethiye And Beyond’ was born.

What is your favourite blog that you like to read?

I like to read about anything and everything but I sway towards blogs about travel & adventure. I like to read about people who are grabbing life by the balls and going ‘yeah, bring it on’. Oh, and cats, I like blogs about cats.

Tell us about your dream job:

I always wish I’d had a passion for something when I was younger, something that would allow me to travel the world doing something I love – like a marine biologist or an archaeologist (actually, good job I didn’t become an archaeologist as I just had to look up how to spell it!),

Is your glass half full or half empty?

Neither – it is absolutely overflowing. I love my life. That’s right, LOVE it. And when you love your life setbacks are merely little hiccups that can be easily overcome. As Terri Guillemets said ‘How can something bother you if you won’t let it?’

If you could go anywhere for a week’s holiday where would it be?

You are expecting me to say Turkey aren’t you? Well, no, so ner ner na ner ner. Vancouver is where I would head to. I’ve been there 7 times in the last 12 or so years and absolutely adore the place. Not only is the city surrounded by really beautiful harbours and mountains but the Canadian people are sooo nice. Oh, and of course, Canadian Maple Syrup Cookies. Yum.

What food can you absolutely not eat?

Swede – eurgh. Reminds me of school dinners.

Dark chocolate or milk chocolate?

Milk, and not just any milk but Cadbury’s Dairy Milk, preferably wrapped around Cadbury’s Chocolate Fingers.

How much time do you spend blogging?

Not nearly as much time as I spend checking my stats and number of followers after I’ve uploaded a post. Jeez, I’ve become almost obsessive over it.

Do you watch TV – if so what are some of your favourite TV shows?

Oh god yes, I watch waaaayyy too much TV, something I want to cut down on when I move to Fethiye – after all I can’t justify sitting indoors starring at a TV screen when the sun is shining all the time. But my favourite shows include Supernatural, Criminal Minds, Hawaii 5-O (all shows with hot guys in I’ve noticed) and I can’t resist an episode of A Place in the Sun – I think I’ve watched every episode at least twice and there are ALOT of episodes. I’m gonna be on it one day – you’ll see.

My Sunshine Awards go to…

1. Free to Dream

2. Gallivance

3. despatchesfromtimbuktu

4. T-Shirts & Twine (The Live Simply Blog)

Yes I know there are only 4 but I felt it made it all the more special to award just a handful of the wonderful bloggers I follow rather than just award them all – although I love each and every blog I read, these 4 are the one’s that currently inspire me.

With all the excitement of the birthday celebrations and country music confessions, I completely forgot to tell you all that I’ve won my first award!

I’ve only been blogging for about 6 months so am thrilled to have received a Best Moments award…nominated by Moment Matters.

Moment Matters is a blog where anyone can share their special moments, regardless of what that moment might be.

And, as is only right, I am now reblogging about the award:
